Ruggero Bidasio Imberti (Alzano, 14 June 1777 – 1841)
Son of the general chancellor of the Cernide, a nobleman, he entered Verona military School as a pupil on 11 November 1791, then served as a cornet of the Dragoons on 10 July 1796, as a lieutenant in the 1st battalion of the Venetian Legion as of 31 July 1797, and was finally promoted assistant major on 6 January 1798. He became captain 1st class of the Cisalpine artillery on 5 May 1798 and was sent to the Modena school as professor of artillery. After the evacuation of the school in 1799, he served in the engineering corps under Chasseloup. He then became director of the drawing bureau under the artillery commander-in-chief of the Armée d’Italie Marmont on 15 October 1800. Recalled to Modena on 14 August 1801, he was promoted battalion chief on 3 July 1803, subdirector on 2 October 1805. Promoted to colonel director at Mantua on 12 May 1808, he went on to command the horse artillery regiment on 10 November 1808, then the foot regiment and the theoretical-practical school, while also being governor of the Pavia school for NCOs, as of 1 December 1809. He participated in the 1798 campaign with the march to Rome, the 1799-1801 campaigns with the Armée d’Italie, the 1809 campaign in Germany. He distinguished himself at the Raab, earning the Legion of Honour on 17 July 1809. He applied for retirement from Austrian service in May 1815. (Cf.
