Audé

Giuseppe Audé (b. 1784)

Audé was son of a geographical engineer who entered the French service, and brother of a military engineer, who, too, took up service in France. He had begun his career as a draughtsman in the Alessandria engineering directorate together with his brother in 1802, and moved to the Kingdom of Italy in 1808 as geographical engineer second lieutenant. In 1814 he was tasked with conducting the most precious materials for the French General War Depot to Alexandria, though they were subsequently taken back to Milan. Like many other former Napoleonic officers he was not included in the formation of the Piedmontese army, so he went to France, where he was naturalized in 1816 (cf. SHD, Xem 175).
