Giuseppe Riccio
In 1782 Riccio entered the Piedmontese topographer corps as a volunteer, and in 1789 he was commissioned a geographical-engineer. He retired in 1796, but in 1799 he joined again as a lieutenant 1st class of the engineering corps in the Armée d’Italie. In 1801 he was admitted as a lieutenant 1st class in the Piedmontese engineering corps. In 1802 he passed into Italian service, where he was employed at first as a draughtsman 2nd class at the War Depot on 2 January, then as a lieutenant 2nd class of the geographical-engineers on 1 February. On 7 September 1802 he was promoted to lieutenant 1st class. At Tibell’s departure, he tried to rejoin French service, but without success. He was promoted to captain 2nd class 1812 and was discharged on 4 June 1814. (Cf. MSA, WO 2854, 2856, OR 96, SHD, 3M 373, EBA, b. 42, f. 1).
