François Aubry (Paris, 12 December 1747 – Demerary, 1 July 1798)
Aubry made a military career in the artillery during the Ancien Régime and in the infantry during the Revolution. He was elected to the National Convention in 1792 and sat with the Gironde. Arrested in October 1793, he was reintegrated in the Convention on 8 December 1794, was president of the Military Committee, then member of the Committee of Public Safety. He was the author of the law on military advancement on 4 April 1795 which remained in force during the Napoleonic Wars and was promoted to lieutenant general on 13 June 1795. The Convention decreed that he be arrested after his role on 13 vendémiaire, but he benefited by the amnesty. He was elected a member of the Council of the Five Hundred, but was deported to Sinnamary on 18 fructidor (4 September 1797). He evaded together with General Pichegru on 4 June 1798.
