Muggiasca

Venanzio Muggiasca (b. Milan, 1782)


Muggiasca studied at the University of Pavia, then was a pupil of the Brera astronomers. Made a provisional second lieutenant in the topographer corps on 9 May 1810, confirmed in his rank on 22 March 1812, he was promoted to captain 2nd-class by imperial decree on 24 October 1813 for rescuing many soldiers, officers and even two marshals who had got separated from the main army and lost in the forest on the night after the battle of Juterbock, near Dennewitz (6-7 September).
